New Vans Apparel Website Reviewed

Posted on by street_rat | +Add a Comment »

Vans has launched a brand new site for their apparel line. It’s aptly named vansapparel.com. I have loved vans ever since I got my first pair of checkered slip-ons back when I was around 10 years old. The are stepping up their game with a new line of apparel. But are consumers going to bite? They have just launched a new site to display the line. Does it meet our expectations?
When you first hop on the site, it looks pretty plain and simple. It features an ornate background pattern design that is pretty much out of style these days. The navigation is fairly simple, it sits in the left sidebar with some featured content in the middle.

The design and excitement of this site may be pretty dull but the fact of the matter is… This site is very easy to navigate and user-friendly. I love how if I click on tees it takes me right to the tees without any B.S. The products are laid out very nicely and the zoom feature, which has been created in flash, woks very well.

All in all, I think they did a good job. So many sites out there these days use too much flash and fancy things. Vans has mastered the art of simplicity in this site and also creates easy navigation for visitors. It amazes me year after year how well Vans is ran and how they don’t get the “sell out” reputation that some other larger brands receive. To sum it up, killer site, killer line, nice work vans. Maybe find a new background though.

John Cardiel Epicly Later’d #4

Posted on by street_rat | 1 Comment »

This is the John Cardiel episode of Epicly Later’d. It began like all the episodes of the show begin, just meeting up with a dude to talk about skateboarding. But John is such a legendary skater with such a long and amazing personal history that to try and crush everything into a normal 15-minute episode would have been a joke. Over the course of filming and editing, this thing just grew and grew until now I almost want to say it’s a full-length documentary.
