Where are you living?
I live in Newbury Park… pretty much in the middle of nowhere!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Agoura. It’s about 10min north of the valley. I started skating there, then moved to N.P. when I was 16.
What do you miss about your hometown? What don’t you miss?
Well if were talking about Agoura… I don’t miss anything. That place sucks! Newbury has it’s ups and downs. It’s cool because all my friends live out
here, but other then that it’s pretty standard.
Favorite place to get away from it all?
I’m still looking for that place!
Do you do any other sports?
Surf and Snowboard… I’m going for the XXX award this year at the Xgames!
What kind of kid were you in school?
I was actually a pretty good kid. I never really got into trouble in school. I just wanted to skate. I was a total skate rat. It was a little different back then though because skating wasn’t really popular yet. So I wasn’t cool in high school and I didn’t really have a ton of friends. We were kind of just outcast. We just didn’t get a shit about anything but skating!
What’s your typical day like?
My day is pretty much the same everyday. I wake up around 11am, meet up with some people and go skate. I usually get home around 10pm and just chill.
How many airports have you been to in the last 3 months?
Jeeze… maybe 15!
What’s your favorite part about traveling?
My favorite part about traveling is skating new spots. I seriously base everything off of skating. If there’s nothing to skate in that city then I write that city off. I get soo burnt out on skating the same spots every single day, so it’s so nice going to skate new spots.
What’s your family like? Do they skate?
My family’s pretty athletic. My dad and my sister both surf. My mom kinda just chills. Does the whole mom thing. And my little brother skates. He’s really good!!!
What are your favorite websites?
To tell you the truth, I’m not a huge internet person. I like being out and doing shit ya know! But if I am on the internet it’s either for myspace or The Berrics!
Top 3 hottest babes?
khiera knitley or how ever you spell her name. Angolina jolie, and lets go with Beyonce
What was your hardest slam ever?
I flew off of a motorcycle going about 45mph. That put me out for a couple months!
Do you play video games? What are your favorite games?
I don’t really play video games, but one of my friends brought nintendo wii over. That stupid thing is pretty fun! We were playing tennis for like 5 hours.
Top 5 Favorite Videos
Mouse, Photosynthesis, Feedback, The Reason, Modus Operandi
What kind of car do you drive?
I have a Acura Tl and a Honda Civic. The Honda is a totally skate car. I drive that thing everyday.
Favorite fast food?
In & Out
Who was your first sponsor and how did you get hooked up?
My first sponsor was Duffs shoes. I just made sponsor me tapes and sent em out. They were the first to call me back.
Well we have seen what skateboard reality tv can do, now why not give skateboard-related rap a listen? Fly Society, the new rap group that includes Pro Skateboarder Terry Kennedy, newcomer, “Hit”, and former Lil Wayne affiliate, Currens$y, have released a new song and video called “Fresh”.
Watch the video below and notice the cameo by P-Rod, Gorecki and Jereme Rogers. Makes you wonder what this will do as far as giving more exposure to Skateboarding, and if it’s a good thing. One thing is for sure, Kr3w is stoked
If you live near the Seattle area you should be stoked. The new Highland Skate Plaza is hosting it’s official grand opening on May 16. A bunch of festivities will be going down such as a best trick contest and a skate demo and autograph signing from the Nike SB team.
This should be a bangin’ good time. If you are going to be attending the event, make sure you hit us back with some photos and a story about what went down. You can do that here.
Stoked Sessions is a benefit auction to raise money to give at-risk youth the opportunity to try alternative sports, like surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. One of the greater ideas I have heard of in a long time. Anyways, the action starts this Saturday in L.A. at The Grind Art and Print Gallery. The event features a silent auction of over 600 one-of-a-kind skateboard decks from today’s leading artists in skateboarding, surfing and street art.
Featured artists include: Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Chris Pastras, Abe Lincoln, Jr, Hit + Run, Todd Bratrud, Eyeone, Joey Potts, Kofie’one, Draftsmen, Enik One, Norton Wisdom, Joe Joe Webb, and Marco Zamora.
This is an event you don’t want to miss! For more info and tickets go to stokedsessions.com
Love him or hate him, right now Ryan Sheckler has bigger balls than you. Check out the footy below of Sheckler slappin the mega ramp around like he owns the thing. You can plan on seeing more of this action this year at X Games… The thing I am not stoked about though is listening to all the damn girls screaming when Sheckler does anything.
Roughly 5 days after the X Games committee announced that they killed off vert, it’s back from the dead! Vert skaters are trully rejoicing everywhere! Maybe they will add some flair to vert this year and get the skaters pulling antics like the image below. That could really bring vert back to the pop status that X Games is seeking…
Did the Man above have a helping hand in this resurrection or was it just the X Games General Manager, Chris Stiepock? Well you be the judge but it was interesting to hear what Mister Stiepock said about this whole ordeal…
“The X Games has always had a commitment to the athletes and our consistent communication with them has allowed us to collectively grow this event to where it is today,” said Chris Stiepock, General Manager, X Games. “In this particular case the communication took many turns but a consensus by the athletes has emerged that has lead us to reinstate Vert as an X Games discipline this year. We will continue to work with the athletes to make the X Games relevant and successful.”
Nice move X Games, way to listen to the people and the actual skaters! Welcome back to life and hopefully you will be around a few more years. Can’t wait to see what Shaun White, Bob, Bucky and PLG have up their sleeves this year. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
If you are stoked on Insight Clothing, and you live in the Los Angeles area or want to make a road trip for some cheap threads, head over to the Insight warehouse and ‘dig for gold’ while eating some tacos and listening to fresh tunes. Sounds like a plan to me. Check out the flyer below for more info:
At least that’s what the X Games thinks… April 3, ESPN announced that they would permanently be canceling Vert Skateboarding from X Games competition.
“It’s time. It’s been time. ESPN’s always a little slow on the uptake. It’s no secret that the vert field has stayed the same for the last decade. It’s no secret that there aren’t any vert ramps for kids to ride outside Southern California. If you want a vert career, you have to move there,” says X Games General Manager Chris Stiepock.
I think they should keep vert but spice it up a bit. Maybe let everyone go at once or even put in some obstacles in the middle of the ramp. Or better yet, maybe set the skaters up with balls that they have to throw into baskets when they are at the climax of their jump, and then they can be rewarded points based off the amount of balls they make into the basket. Who knows, but if you are listening to me right now ESPN, I would definitely take these ideas into consideration.
Quick update: Vert Skateboarding at the X Games has been officially brought back to life. No Joke! Read more about this crazy act of Skateboarding Godliness by clicking here.
