Stoked Sessions is a benefit auction to raise money to give at-risk youth the opportunity to try alternative sports, like surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. One of the greater ideas I have heard of in a long time. Anyways, the action starts this Saturday in L.A. at The Grind Art and Print Gallery. The event features a silent auction of over 600 one-of-a-kind skateboard decks from today’s leading artists in skateboarding, surfing and street art.
Featured artists include: Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Chris Pastras, Abe Lincoln, Jr, Hit + Run, Todd Bratrud, Eyeone, Joey Potts, Kofie’one, Draftsmen, Enik One, Norton Wisdom, Joe Joe Webb, and Marco Zamora.

The guys over at birdhouse skateboards are putting on a contest for us action sports filmers and editors. The contest is simple, check out this link and read up on the rules, download the footage, and submit your video.
For the lazy ones out there like myself, here are the rules:
1. Video must be at least 30 seconds long, but cannot exceed 60 seconds.
2. Only use footage provided by us in your video. (Video is available for download on the site)
3. Slam and Other footage can be incorporated into video however you see best fit.
4. You may use any kind of music to go with your commercial, but must include the music credits at the end of your promo. This includes: name of the band, the name of the song, the record company and official band website (or record company website if band website is not available).
5. You must incorporate the Birdhouse logo and The Beginning “Tree Flash” artwork (provided by us on the contest download page) into your video. Preferably at the beginning or end of your video. Birdhouse’s website, as well as a mention that the video is available now must also be included at the end of the promo).

The Vans skate team is hitting the road in a new tour bus, and is going to be rocking the skateparks, skate shops, and local spots along the way. In case you missed it, this last weekend in Australia there was a huge turnout for the Globe Slaughter at the Opera contest. First prize took away 25,000 dollars! So you know the best of the best turned out for this, but there could only be one winner. The winner of course being, Greg Lutzka! Absent was some of the veterans, but they still had enough gusto and talent to produce a worthwhile event. The heavy favorite to take the crown was indeed Ryan Sheckler, skateboardings golden boy, but was knocked out cold with a concussion, leaving Lutzka to take first and win the glory! The event was streamed live on the internet via webcast, but it wasn’t exactly very good quality, but hey, it was still worth it.
